Soooo happy. I have finally managed to write my first post for my first blog and change the email associated with my blog. I feel like a genius – it only took me a week! Two actually. I spent the first week clicking “check availability” for a name and when I finally got one, I, somewhat daftly, attached an email that bore no resemblance to the name of my blog. I spent the second week figuring out how to display a new email and change the log on details. I could, of course, have started from scratch with a completely new blog and email address, but after all that clicking to find a name that was available and that I was happy with, there was no way I was letting go of it to start again. It was quite a palaver to get it all sorted, but that old saying is true – when all else fails, read the instructions. In my defence, it was the finding of the instructions that was the problem. Blogger does not have a help section, it has a help forum. With a help section, you type in your question and up pops the solution. With a help forum, you key in your question and up pops a selection of solutions and you have to figure out which one best suits your problem. All very well if you know what you are talking about. Anyway, once I found them, I sat down at my pc in an empty house, with a cup of coffee and a flapjack (which my son made, very nice too). The empty house is important, as trying to follow instructions on a subject about which you know nothing, while trying to field enquiries along the lines of - what time is dinner, where are my running shorts, can I borrow the car and €20 for petrol - does not make for a happy ending. I don’t run, why would I know where anybody’s running shorts are? Besides which, wouldn’t they be where one left them? Further enquiries from the kitchen as to the whereabouts of the sugar, butter, oats etc., did not help with instruction following either. It is an average sized kitchen, not the Amazon. However, once I managed the give the problem my undivided attention for half an hour, ok, an hour , hey presto – a blog, with correct email and author. As I said, I am a genius, or at least I feel like one. I had another coffee and flapjack to celebrate. They really are nice, actually. All is forgiven.
